Think you know the worst enemies of video games? This book proves you otherwise.
The next 25 April, OXO Museo Madrid is hosting the presentation of Grotesque Bestiary of Video Games, a unique work that pays homage to the most bizarre, disgusting and spectacular creatures that have populated the videogame universe for more than four decades.
Inspired by the illustrated books of the Middle Ages, this digital bestiary is a visual encyclopaedia packed with ultimate enemies, unforgettable monsters and mind-blowing designs, from the days of the Spectrum and Amiga to the current era of PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch.
The author Samuel Barranco, vocalist of Def Con Dos y XpresidentX, will guide us on this journey with a casual but passionate tone, unravelling the secrets of close to 200 insane creatures, some as well known as the Cyberdemon of Doom or the R-Type Dobkeratops, and other much more obscure ones, rescued from video games as strange as they are fascinating.
Behind every monster there are delirious stories: interdimensional alien invasions, uncontrolled cybernetic experiments or atomic plans to conquer the world. A grotesque journey, yes... but absolutely essential for any videogame lover.
